We are excited to announce the launch of a new ministry here at First Methodist Church of Clinton, NC.
Beginning February 1, 2023 we are launching the Mary and Martha’s Congregational Care Team. This team falls under the umbrella of the Nurture, Outreach, and Witness (NOW) team. This team also is an extension of the Pastoral Care ministry of First Methodist Church. So, what is Mary and Martha’s Congregational Care Team? Glad you asked! This team will focus on providing care for individuals who find themselves going through emergency situations in life. Maybe it is an unexpected surgery, maybe it is a short term sickness like covid or the flu. Maybe your need is for a short term or seasons of focused care. This could be someone dealing with cancer, grief, planned surgeries. The third type of care focuses on homebound and long term care needs. In each of these instances the Congregational Care Team will provide opportunities for the congregation to respond through cards, meals, transportation, and most importantly prayer. We give thanks to Janet Shoemaker who will lead this team in this season.
The Ministries that are part of this team current and new:
Intercessory Prayer Group (IPG): Rev. Matt Seals
Mondays 10:00am The IPG meets each Monday to pray for the church, the community, and the needs of the church. If you need to add a name to the prayer list you can use the prayer form found in the pew or contact the church office. The IPG is open to the whole church. Will you join us on Monday’s at 10:00?
Prayer Shawl Ministry/Lap Blankets: Ann Robinson
Ann Robinson faithfully makes prayer shawls/ lap blankets for those who may need them for any
season a person might be going through. Contact Pastor Matt or the office for more information.
Meal Train: Lead To be Announced
Going through a surgery, treatments, or just needing some help for a season. Let us fix meals for you. We are looking at having some meals premade and frozen at the church as well as sending out a sign up sheet for individuals to sign up.
Transportation Ministry: Lead To Be Announced
We are looking to put together a list of those who are available during the week to drive individuals to appointments. Maybe you are retired, maybe you have one day a week that you can be available to drive someone to a doctors appointment locally or out of town. Maybe you need a ride. You will be able to reach out to the Transportation Ministry leader and work with them to arrange some help with transportation.
Bereavement Team Meal: Jane Claire Tew
The bereavement teams provide food for the families prior to or just after services for their loved ones. These meals offer a place for families to be together in a large space and share stories and memories with one another.
Flower Ministry: Janet Shoemaker
What happens to the beautiful flowers that are left behind on Sunday morning? Glad you asked! They are divided up and taken out to different people in the church to brighten their day and share the love of Christ with them. Through these different areas the goal is to get every member in ministry in some way. If you would like to serve on the Mary and Marthas Congregational Care Team contact the church office or Janet Shoemaker. If you would like to volunteer in any of the above areas reach out to the lead in that area or just look for the sign up sheets when they go out from the church.
